Fifteen Books

Alright, I will try this... I classified "favorite books" as the ones that I always seem to go back to and read again. So, in no specific order:

1) Fortunes Rocks by Anita Shreve: my number one favorite book. I have read this book over and over and over again. I just love it. It's nothing deep but a great story.

2)Oh My Stars by Lorna Landvik

3)Blood by Joseph Glass: an incredibly gorey and detailed story of a serial killer... not sure why I like this so much but I have been reading it since I was in 8th grade or so.

4)Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin: my first classic book

5) Where the Heart Is by Billie Letts

6) Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt

7)Number the Stars by Lois Lowry: a childrens book, stuck with me since I first read it

8) All the Laura Ingalls Wilder books, I still own all of them :)

9) Sea Glass by Anita Shreve

10) Berenstain Bear books: I have already bought a bunch of these at garage sales so that I will have them around when I have kids... they have come in handy when Max's nephew Noah stays over at our house.

11) The Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

12) Night Sins by Tami Hoag (not a romance novel even though the title sounds iffy)

now we are getting to my trashy book nonsense... I can't help myself
13) Until You by Judith McNaught

14)Wanderlust by Danielle Steel

15) Where You Belong by Barbara Taylor Bradford

honorable mention for the romance category:
The Edge of Town by Dorothy Garlock

I found a few books while perusing Barnes and Noble with momma today... has anyone read them? are they any good?

The Zookeepers Wife by Diane Ackerman
Perfect Family by Pam Lewis
The View from Mount Joy by Lorna Landvik
The Girls by Lori Lansens
Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen

blondey

Back to blonde... as my mom put it "you look like Jessie again."

i apparently cannot take a normal photo

Happy Birthday!

Poker Party

So Sat night Max had his poker party. He usually has one every 2 or 3 months. We have a bunch of people come over, set up a couple tables, usually a 5 or 10 dollar buy in and play some poker. BYOB. This time was no different except there were more people then usual and we drank more then usual... whoops! It was a very good time and to top it off, my husband had everything cleaned up by the time I woke up in the morning! That was an incredibly nice treat, I hate cleaning up after a poker party. We have the 2 tables and a million chairs that we have accumulated at garage sales to haul down to the smelly basement. Not this time though, Max, I LOVE YOU! I took way too many photos to put on here so I made a few collages of a bunch so you can see.

These are photos of me with everyone that was there. Notice how I am always on the right side... this is because I look much better in photos if I am on the right and I take the photos better. I am not being weird, I honestly look really stupid for some reason if I am on the other side... it's my hair.
The second table, hard at work.

Loin is dealing here...

Rachel playing heads up with Jamie for 1st place... she actually won both rounds! Go Rachel!

Jamie playing against Rachel.

The rest of us who got out early hung out in the living room... some played Yahtzee. We had all 4 dogs running around so you can see how exhausted Luca was poor fella.

And the drinking kicks in... yikes!

double yikes!

girl time

we had a good time at our girls weekend :) we stayed in minneapolis at the Millenium where we stayed for my bachelorette party. it's pretty close to things and easy to manage to drive to and from. we aren't city girls remember... we are used to hick driving. i FINALLY got to go swimming (i love to swim) and they also have a sauna to warm up in. once we were starving, we ordered pizza from Divanni's which was quite good but Barleys in Hudson still has the best Hawaiian pizza. slowly but surely we started to get ready. rachel and i were the last to change which is why in most of the pics everyone looks rearing to go and i am still in my comfy tank.
we headed straight to spin this time instead of bouncing around which i was kind of bummed about but i am pretty easygoing and will do anything. next we will for sure hit a few places... that's why you go to the cities! spin was very dead at first since we earlybirds got there at 1030 but once it started filling up, it filled up fast. we had a good time but i noticed the guys were much more grabby this time. i had a bunch of guys just grab my hand and pull me towards thing. don't worry, i smacked their hands away pretty hard. i hope they bruised the jerks. we all just enjoy dancing with each other and the guys in that place just weren't having it this time. constantly bugging us. idiots, don't they see we are very repulsed by their behavior? i will bring my spare taser next time ;)
we left about 130 and cabbed it back to the hotel. in the morning colette left early since she had things to do and they were celebrating her husbands bday. we left an hour or so after her and headed to perkins where i proceeded to eat about 5 pounds of food in 15 minutes. dang. it was so very delicious though!
anway, here are some photos. i didn't get any of us actually at the club but sarah got some.

sarah and myself... i don't have any makeup on here so that's why i look like i'm 12.
coletterpants having a good time watching us all scramble around while she was all ready to go.

my mother produces some good looking kids. we also never seem to do a normal, smiley picture... why is this? camera comes out and we do ugly faces. hmmm...

awwww, here it is. a nice one.

colette and i. nothing like taking your "boss" with you when you go out! no worries, she is more my friend then she is my boss, right mctavish?

jw looking forlorn. jk, i gave her enough love to last a week! we were just playing around.

lynsie (aka loin when i'm feeling affectionate) and myself :)

i think caitlin didn't understand the directions in these ones.

mama bear feeling my little tadpole.

god we are sexy... watch out megan fox, move over angelina, here we come.

there were some guys across the other building that we thought were watching us so we told caitlin to moon them. she is trying to get her footing just right here...

oh yeah, that's right. nice reflection shot i think...

i don't quite remember why these faces are quite like this. either because it was so dead at first or there were these two girls that might as well have come naked for the little bits of underwear they were wearing.

haha, colette and i on monday morning at work, still tired. my back hurt really bad from the hard beds at the hotel. hence my unusual stance.

Selfish shopper

To the person who bought the blue and black skirt at Maurices on sale in Woodbury:

Can you please return it? It's the only skirt I have found that actually looks decent on me and apparently everyone is wearing a skirt to work today. I could not because you purchased that skirt. That was an incredibly arrogant and selfish thing to do. You can redeem yourself by returning it :)

Thank you very much!
Jessie
